After Sarah Miles
Performing in our Maureen O’Hara Studio, After Sarah Miles chronicles 35 years in the life of Bobeen, a Dingle fisherman whose first job, as a 14-year-old, is on the set of Ryan’s Daughter, where Robert Mitchum buys him his very first drink and Sarah Miles is the subject of his first serious crush.
Bobeen is still longing for the American dream long after the film crew pulls out of town but life becomes a bit of rollercoaster until one faithful evening when a bottlenose dolphin guides his boat into Dingle bay.
‘Deeply moving this runs the gamut of emotions and it never gets boring. You constantly find yourself wondering what is going to happen next and it constantly surprises. This is a powerful piece that deserves a look.’ No More Workhorse
‘After Sarah Miles is a charming and absorbing play that maps out one man’s life as a constellation of wrong turns and second chances. That man is Dingle fisherman Bobeen, a warm soul who guides us through his life, from his impressionable boyhood encounter with US actor Robert Mitchum, to his years of drinking and disappointment. Though this is a fine yarn, writer Michael Hilliard Mulcahy’s greatest strength is his ear for dialect. There is lovely language here.’ Irish Examiner
