Delighted to welcome back 4 artists to exhibit with us who have all had successful solo shows in the past in Dlr Mill Gallery
MARY BARTLEY

Mary Bartley “Maro” is a Dublin based artist, working almost exclusively in acrylic on canvas. Mary suffers from several long-term illnesses, most recently a battle with breast cancer, she finds painting very physically demanding and has learned to adapt her style and techniques to suit her ability on any given day. Despite all of this, her work exudes vibrant colour and energy and she firmly believes that painting has helped save her sanity during the darkest days of her cancer treatment.

MARGARET MCLOUGHLIN

Margaret McLoughlin is an established Irish printmaker who has exhibited in the Royal Academy Summer show and the Royal Hibernian Academy as well as numerous group shows.    She has had several solo shows in the Original Print Gallery, Temple Bar and is a member of the Black Church Print Studio.Landscape has always been the driving inspiration for McLoughlin’s work. Over the years she has explored the rich Irish landscapes of Wicklow and Leitrim through painting and printmaking.  In January 2020 she began the 100 days of walking challenge A crucial part of the exercise was taking a photograph on the daily walk of something that sparked interest and posting it on Instagram using the hashtag #100daysofwalking , on Instagram @mmcloughlinartist. This has been the starting point of Margarets more recent work in etching and carbarundum.

BAIRBRE MURRAY

Bairbre Murray is an emerging artist who works mostly in oils.   She likes to paint on canvas and on paper textured with gesso.   Her current paintings explore light and movement in her immediate environment and often are presented in two or three segments, the better to examine the relationship between images and how different complimentary or conflicting ideas flow through an image.   She is currently working on a project around family memory and hereditary, based around photographs and stories, for which she received an Arts Council Agility Award.   Bairbre is also a member of Artnet DLR and exhibits with this group regularly.

GEOFF O’KEEFFE

Initially trained in Fine Art Painting under the tutelage of the artists Sean Mc Sweeney and John O’Leary, Geoff became an art educator, before making a fulltime crossover to theatre. His training as a visual artist constantly informs his work as a director.    Both art practices tell stories, and in the telling, strive to create atmosphere and fuse together forms, textures, images, sights and sounds to find those moments of magic we all search for.  The work seeks to create atmosphere through distilling the memories and ‘feel’ of a place.  Filtering fleeting emotions, sensory and guttural reactions, and the creation of a strong sense of place resonate more with Geoff than the making of naturalistic renderings.
