ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Our aim is to create a unique opportunity for students to experience Shakespeare as his work should be experienced, on stage. The festival framework gives teachers the opportunity to develop their chosen Shakespeare in class through performance. With given texts and fixed timetables, the onus is placed firmly on the students shoulders to interact meaningfully with the project at hand. Entries are then invited to bring their own 30 MINUTE production to perform at dlr MILL THEATRE in January 2020.
Our inaugural Festival took place on 24th and 25th January 2019. Students and teachers from participating schools Mount Sackville, Mount Anville and Loreto Dalkey put so much hard work into their performances. The Overall Award went to Mount Sackville with their interpretation of Romeo & Juliet. Adjudicator Geoff O’Keeffe was thrilled with the level of theatricality brought to the stage.
