(Content warning: this article contains a lot of puns.)
There’s something for everyone at the theatre this year!!
And why not give the gift of theatre this year with a gift voucher?
The Magic and Music of Christmas
The holiday season starts on the 1st December this year with the Drawing Room Opera Company’s The Magic and Music of Christmas. It will be a festive night indeed, including musical renditions of popular opera and Christmas classic, as well as sing along carols! Come and join the festive atmosphere with some of Ireland’s finest performers: Liz Ryan, Paul Linehan, Mary Flaherty, Brendan Collins, Andrew Synnott.
Tickets are selling out fast, book tickets to the Magic and Music of Christmas now!
Carols by Candlelight
The Glencullen Musical Society are lighting up the studio this holiday season with Carols By Candlelight – a beautiful performance of your favourite Christmas carols on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th December. This year, carol singers don’t come to you, you go to carol singers!!
This year’s pantomime is Robin Hood – the arrow wielding vigilante! He steals from the rich to give to the poor, but is he more of a lover than a fighter? Come and see the Mill Production’s latest pantomime this year, starring Evelyn Shaw, Gary Mountaine, Matthew O’Brien, Aisling Reid, Shane Quigley Murphy, Laoise Sweeney and Joe Wright as the titular character. Geoff O’Keefe directs Robin Hood and his gang of misfits – including Bella Sparkles the Unicorn! – in this spectacle that can’t be missed!!
Don’t forget you can also download an activity pack to enjoy while school’s out!
If the pantomime’s not your thing and you’d prefer something more suave and sophisticated, then Thomas Cameron is for you! This award- winning tenor is here for one night only to wow you with his musical prowess. Singing all the greats, from Music of the Night to Bring Him Home, you’ll find it hard not to join in!! Michael Bublé-who? Pavarotti-wha? you might say after this show.
Back by popular demand, the Christmas Crooners are here for one night only on the 8th December to help you start rocking around the Christmas tree, etc. etc. Snow on and snow forth… Who doesn’t love to hear the jolly holiday hits from yonder-year? My favourite will always be that one, you know the one, by whats-his-face, about the weather…
But wait – there’s myrrh!!
Christmas at Marlay
It’s Marley and Marley, ooh! No, this isn’t actually the Muppets – it’s the Balally Players! And they’re bringing you a festive treat this December for four evenings, from Wednesday 11th to Saturday 14th. Christmas at Marlay is, like it says in the name of the show, in Marlay House, which is a creative decision and in no way does it reflect upon our desire to host the Players…
God Jul! you might say on Friday 20th December, if you were lucky enough to scoop up an Abba Forever ticket. If not, you’re probably saying Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! to those lucky-duckers! Dust off your bell-bottoms for the sensational quartet lead by Dennis Scally, with Rae Daniel on lead guitar, and Lucinda O’Connell and Marie O’Hara on vocals.
New Dublin Voices
And finally, New Dublin Voices is back again (with a vengeance?) and joined by Wesley College Junior Choral Group for one night only on Saturday 21st December – the last weekend before Christmas – eep!! Founded by the outstanding conductor, Bernie Sherlock, the singers are a glorious smörgåsbord of talent, who are pining to make this night one to remember!
