August 2019 – Annie-The Musical

We are looking for ANYONE aged 11-21 who loves theatre! We are looking for people with guts, determination, integrity, ambition, energy, authenticity, generosity and a willingness to give it everything! You don’t need to have any prior experience whatsoever; we are looking for potential!
It is our very first Youth Musical Theatre Company production- Do you want to be part of it?
BOOK YOUR AUDITION NOW! Email or call us on (01) 2969340

We are looking for young actors and musicians, aged 11-21, who have a flair for performing and theatre-making. Regardless of experience, we want to meet you!
Your audition is a half-day group workshop led by professional theatre practitioners. They will be looking to gauge how well you dance, sing, act and work as a team. When you arrive you will meet the team, and they will talk you through what to expect. Your group will learn a song together, and you will then be asked to sing either the song you have just learned or a song you have prepared. You will also take part in a group dance and have the chance to show the team some improvised movement.
We will look at your acting skills through short improvised scenes in groups as well as listening to your own monologue if you have one – if you don’t we will have some monologue sheets in the rehearsal room.

Rehearsals run from  Monday 5th to Monday 19th of August (excluding Sat & Sun) 10am-4pm
Performances on Tues 21st , Wednesday 22nd, Thursday 23rd, Friday 24th, Sat 25th of August 2019

DIRECTOR: The show will be directed by Theatre Manager Kate Canning. Kate established and facilitates the Mill Youth Theatre and recently directed their production of ‘Our Town’. Kate has previously directed ‘Blood Brothers’, ‘A Christmas Carol’ and ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ with young performers.

Kate will lead a highly skilled production team of Directors, Musicians, Designers, Choreographers and Technicians.

MUSICAL DIRECTOR: Shauna Carrick is a Dublin based composer and musical director. Shauna’s passion for musical theatre and telling authentic Irish stories has led her to creating her own works here in Dublin and overseas. Her most recent production, Tír na nÓg was showcased at the Scene + Heard festival 2019 in Smock Alley. Her debut full-length musical Chromatics was shown at dlr Mill Theatre in April 2018 and was then selected to participate in Musical Bites at The Other Palace in London’s West End in May 2018 in association with Mercury Musical Development. Chromatics returned to dlr Mill Theatre under the direction of Andrew Keates in November 2018. Shauna has also been recently selected as a member of the esteemed Book, Music & Lyrics Workshop in London as part of their Composer/Lyricist programme

If successful, there is a course fee. Mill Theatre is a not-for-profit registered charity so our primary source for covering costs of the production will come from course fees and ticket sales.
The fee covers the whole duration of the production, including over 60 hours tuition from leading industry professionals, costume hire, Stage Makeup, theatre hire, sound design and technical staff  (the actual cost is far more). We have a comprehensive bursary scheme if required. Please contact to enquire.
